 नीतिशतकम्।


नीतिशतकम् भर्तृहरि is one of the three famous centuries, which are also called as शतकत्रय. It is a book written by भर्तृहरि, who was a famous Sanskrit poet. There are 100 verses related on the basis of his experiences, public behavior and नीति. On one hand he has criticized ignorance, greed, wealth, misery, ego, etc. and on the other hand, he has praised the virtues of nobleness, generosity, self respect, tolerance and truth. The verses of नीतिशतक have been quoted from time to time, from Sanskrit to other Indian languages.

Sanskrit scholar and critic भूधेन्द्र has divided the नीतिशतक into the following sections, which have been called पद्धति (methods):
मूर्खपद्धति (Idiotism)
विद्वत्पद्धति ( Intellectualism)
मान-शौर्य-पद्धति (Pride and bravery methods)
अर्थपद्धति (Semantics, which is a branch of linguistics and logic concerned with meaning)
दुर्जनपद्धति (Devilism)
सुजनपद्धति (Idealism)
परोपकारपद्धति (Helping others selflessly)
धैर्यपद्धति (Patience)
दैवपद्धति (Destiny)
कर्मपद्धति (Action based method)
