वाचनप्रशंसा।


शीलं सद्गुणसम्पत्तिः ज्ञानं विज्ञानमेव च ।
उत्साहो वर्धते येन वाचनं तद् हितावहम्॥ 

 That reading is beneficial, which enhances a man’s character, treasure in the form of virtues, knowledge, conscience and enthusiasm(towards learning).


मनुजा वाचनेनैव बोधन्ते विषयान् बहन । 
दक्षा भवन्ति कार्येषु वाचनेन बहुश्रुताः॥

People understand several subjects merely by reading, become alert in work and become well read(learned) by reading.


वाल्मीकिव्यासबाणाद्याः प्राचीनाः कविपण्डिताः।
तान् शिक्षयन्ति सततं ये सदा वाचने रताः॥

Ancient poets and scholars like Valmiki, Vyas, Bana, etc. teach those who are always engrossed in reading.


अद्ययावद्धि ज्ञानाय वृत्तपत्रं पठेत्सदा
सर्वविधसुविद्यार्थं वाचनमुपकारकम् ॥

Indeed, a man should always read the newspaper for proper updated knowledge. Reading is beneficial for proper knowledge of all types.


वृथाभ्रमणकुक्रीडापरपीडापभाषणैः।
कालक्षेपो न कर्तव्यो विद्यार्थी वाचनं श्रयेत् ॥

Students should not waste their time in wandering aimlessly, bad games, troubling others and in gossip. (In fact) a student should resort to reading.

Explanation: Reading helps in building up a good character. However, if a student is involved in the above futile activities, he wastes his time and corrupts his mind, too.
वाचनं ज्ञानदं बाल्ये तारुण्ये शीलरक्षकम्।
वार्धक्ये दुःखहरणं हितं सद्ग्रन्थवाचनम् ॥

 Reading gives knowledge in the childhood, protects the character in the youth, takes away sorrow in the old age. (Hence) reading good books is beneficial.

😄 माध्यमभाषया उत्तरत। 1) ‘कं  संजघान ’  इति  श्लोकं माध्यमभाषया स्पष्टीकुरुत।       The above question is from the poetry lesson चित्रकाव्यम् , which means image poetry. Such lessons enhance the intellectual power and knowledge of children.      This verse is an example of अन्तरलाप .  There are four questions, which are given in the verse and the answer of each of them is hidden in the question itself. This is the beauty of शब्दालड्लार .  The answer to the question is obtained by combining or dropping a particular letter (in the question)  1)    The first question is  कं संजघान कृष्णः?  Whom did Krishna kill? By combining  कं  and  सं,  the answer is obtained –  कंसं जघान कृष्णः।  (Kansa) 2)    The second question is  का शीतलवाहिनी गड्गा?  Which (part of) Ganga is coolly flowing?
