संस्कृतनाट्यस्तबकः प्रथमं पुष्पम्।

1) दुष्यन्तस्य कानि स्वभाववै शिष्ट्यानि ज्ञायन्ते ?

     अभिज्ञानशाकुन्तलम् is a very famous work of महाकवि कालिदास. Human characters are beautifully depicted in various emotional states of human mind and heart. The first extract in the lesson संस्कृतनाट्यस्तबकः reveals some aspects of  the noble King Dushyant’s nature.

     Despite being a King, Dushyant was modest, obedient and noble enough to accept the orders of Vaikhanas regarding taking back the arrow, which was intended for the hermitage deer. His sensitive nature can be observed during his conversation with the charioteer, when he tells him to keep the chariot away from the hermitage, so that it doesn’t disturb the inmates of the hermitage. King Dushyant shows his simplicity by entering the hermitage with a simple attire. Although he takes off his royal ornaments and keeps away his bow, he carries the kingship in his mind. King Dushyant is respectful, obedient and alert of his duties and he quickly accepts the invitation of Vaikhanas, accepting the hospitality of the hermitage. He also instructs his charioteer to water the back of the horses with water, which reflects his caring and loving nature.

     King Dushyant is hence an ideal King, reflecting virtues!

😄 माध्यमभाषया उत्तरत। 1) ‘कं  संजघान ’  इति  श्लोकं माध्यमभाषया स्पष्टीकुरुत।       The above question is from the poetry lesson चित्रकाव्यम् , which means image poetry.
